Southampton (A) - Carabao Cup | Post Match Thread

I'm so so proud of my players, we play so so well, Southampton are such a strong team. Just waiting for this bs to come out of Pep's mouth, because quite frankly that was yet again another tactical and team selection fuck up from him, and he'll continue to do it probably again on Saturday.
Totally on his head this result because in that first half especially players didn't have a fucking clue where they were supposed to be playing and they all looked like they'd never kicked a ball before, it was absolutely abysmal. Second half was 0.01% better but even our big name subs looked shit as well. The worst I've seen us play under Pep and that is wank preparation for Saturday, no more fucking around, sick of it

Cancelo’s head has gone and Gomez has proved he isn’t good enough. I said the other day we needed to see what the craic was with him, now we know - ship him out to a CFG club and buy a fucking left back, otherwise we are going to struggle.
 
That match was lost with team selection. Walker isn’t a centre back, Cancelo is in awful form, Gomes is new, raw and utterly devoid of confidence, Philips is not match fit very obviously still not familiar with his role.

We started with a weak back four and unfit 6 in a cup tie against a side who were always going to start like a train. Sure enough we gave them a lead and never got going.

While this result doesn’t help confidence I’m not sure it if will have any bearing on Saturday but it probably doesn’t help.

It’s clear that Cancelo and Gomez are really struggling. Philips needs to get fit fast. Palmer desperately needs to start contributing.

Correct, and that set the template for the game. We then became, sloppy, nervous, ponderous and careless. How many passes did we give up to them.
 
We were shit saints worked hard that’s all. Sky going on like they were amazing. We would of beaten ourselves tonight.

Peripheral vision basically useless. At times it genuinely looked like players were struggling to quickly determine which were teammates and which were opposition. Happened even with the players coming on in the second half.

I’d include whoever approved wearing the third kit in the match ratings with a -1/10.

Never know why teams change strips when there is no clash with the first team colours of either team. Just a joke imo.
