Newcastle won’t be desperate to get to Wembley?

I'm saying they will but Forest and Wolves will to an equal measure and so they'll lose a bit of the advantage they might have over us/the rags where we're not as bothered by the league cup. We'll still want to get to the final if we make the semi's but we'd rotate and it wouldn't be the be all or end all. Those three clubs will be absolutely buzzing in a semi final.

Similar to Sunday will do me, with good use of the subs bench.

Ortega
Walker > Lewis
Akanji
Laporte
Gomez > Cancelo
Philips
Foden > KDB
Gundog > Bernardo
Grealish > Mahrez
Palmer
Alvarez

Hopefully we'll start quickly & from half time we can start bringing on substitutes to save legs & give limited game time to selected subs who'll be in contention for the weekend.

I hate being a bit previous, but it's the derby on Saturday & it's tough not to factor that into tonight's thinking. It's the reality of the situation.

Remember a few years ago when these knocked us out of the FA Cup after nobody gave them a cat in hells chance ? All I'm saying is we've got a match away at a premier league club before we can start thinking about the semi's. C'MON CITY !!!!!
I remember the game but don't think it was FA Cup. Che Adams lobbed Ederson from near the half way line if that's the game you're thinking of.

Was in Lockdown and I remember it being on bbc too, but then if it was in the league not sure how they would've had the tv right. idk haha

We played them last year in the FA cup at their place beating them 4-1.
Yep. At Maine Road. I was there. Terry Paine right winger caused havoc and I think Derek Reeves got 4. When the Saints go marching in rang around the ground.

One thing for certain if we win tonight we won’t get wolves or forest in next round

I think it's working out quite nicely though?

We're playing all the big hitters in December/January and leaving easier matches in March/April when we've got the CL knockouts.

Maximum of 10 PL clubs in the 5th round of the FA Cup, and with a bit of luck Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool will be among the clubs knocked out - 4 of our ~6 realistic competitors.
