Southampton (A) Post Match Thread

Pretty much this. It's not just yesterday, it is a clear tendency of calls going against us that has been consistent throughout the season (I thought it was a nailed-on penalty, by the way, but even if it was “grey”, it's the kind of call that other clubs have been getting in their favour, and we never seem to get, not this season, anyway.)

Not aiming this at you, but there does feel to be some paranoia on here at times about this. I'm sure every fan forum has a similar feeling of injustice

Its equally laughable and sad that a small few on here on a weekly basis back bent and corrupt decisions that go against us and frankly argue against the consensus is ways even rival fans would have a giggle at.

The first angle shown yesterday very clearly shows Sane legs being taken from under him by Foster. Its as clear a penalty as you are ever likely to see but guess what? BT then find an angle from behind and its that angle they have only ever shown after for some obscure reason i cant quite put my finger on and it throws a shadow of doubt into the mix, a mix that some on here have swallowed hook, line and sinker.

Its desperate from the officials, its desperate from the TV companies and its even more desperate from some on here.
I thought it was a pen at the time, but t's hardly easy is it. You do need a slow motion, and that slow motion also shows the keeper getting the slightest touch to it. I think it was a pen. but Guardiola muddied the waters afterwards when he said that sane told him it was not a pen. I think that might have influenced Shearer and MOTD coverage.

nd kept a clean sheet. The distribution from the back was excellent.

I watched the City game this morning on MOTD again, and Navas was excellent. I missed his contribution to the 2nd goal. He defends an attacking situation, clears it, the ball comes back, and this time he heads it clear.

I have seen the odd blue suggesting over the years that we play Navas at full back, but not taken it seriously. Credit must be given to Guardiola for doing this. He mus have been searching for solutions with different players and he has found one. Just hope Navas changes his mind and gives it an extra year at City

If the rumours on here are true that he has already moved his family back to Spain, I feel him staying will be unlikely. Like you though, I wish he would stay.

Pedestrian in the first half but could've scored 3.

Dynamic in second half did score 3.

Vincent 10/10

Kun,Dave,Dino Claude 7/10

Every one else 8/10

Leroy continues develop. Stronger, inteligent, tactically aware. A very bright prospect.

Credit to Jesus. He's shown great character in moving to City following his previous homesickness problem.

He stood up to be counted & scored his penalty at Wembers. He's never hidden in any game & for all his limitations is a great team player with a terrific work ethic.

He's grabbed his chance at rb,done a professional job, helped his team out, knowing that he won't be here next year.

A World Cup winner.

A top pro who is highly respected by the dressing room.......best wishes hombre.

Agree with all you have said

Credit to BT last night during commentary reminding everyone that Jesus has a World Cup medal in his back pocket. I love the player and hope he stays.

Hate it when refs give a yellow card for pulling a shirt or holding, then don't bat an eyelid when a player comes in on the back of a player and rakes his studs down all the way from high calf to achilles. Been on the receiving end of a few of those and they should be at least a yellow, if not a red. The player has absolutely no defence against that type of challenge and it can lead to serious injury. I appreciate a good slide tackle, but that seems to have been outlawed and is an almost instant yellow!

Shocking, snidey, cowards tackles on Kun & Dave. Both yellows. Neither given. Shocking.......or not!!

I'll drive Navas to Mcr airport right now. For the few decent games he's played, he's played many more in headless chicken mode. Been a poor signing IMO.
Will have to vehemently disagree with you there blue. A great squad player who has always given 100% and last season added an awful lot of balance to the team. Didn't cost and arm and a leg and whilst he maybe entering the twilight of his career, has still a lot to give.

A bit unfair that. Navas isn't the best goalscorer, obviously recognised by managers as he has generally been used in games that the manager believed we needed defensive support for the right back or where that need developed in a match. He did this showing enthusiasm, bags of energy and reasonably well. No doubt this influenced Pep in deciding to try him as right wing back. I also believe that Pellers did him no favours by either telling him to cut in from the wing or at least not stopping him from doing it once he started to play that way. Before we bought him when I saw him play for Spain he was at his best getting the ball in from wide and from behind the defence. Something he has gone back to under Pep and with success. In view of Raheem's poor showing under Pellers you wonder if he really knew how to get the best from having wingers in the team.
