Countless high balls into their box so their six foot ten defenders can head it away.
Our five foot ten forwards have no chance yet we just keep doing it. Zinchenko the main culprit but not just him.
 
What if Foden replaced Sane and Zinchenko replaced David? Put Sterling back to RW.

Feel Pep should stop playing Zinny LB not simply because of this game but mainly because his future doesn't lie there, he's a box to box midfielder and should replace David in midfield to allow kevin or Bernie to play as more attacking midfielders. He is so good for Ukraine there, best to not fuck about and mold him in his natural position.

Also I think Foden is deceptively quick, not Sane quick, but I think he can accomplish that low cross from the left Sane did very effectively. Foden can really play almost anywhere, but I just put him LW to keep it short.

This means we need a backup LB to Mendy. Digne or whatever they are looking at, maybe Cancelo can play there too.

Also, Mahrez false 9, just saying... Anytime I see him attacking centrally he looks dangerous.

You can just as easily turn that completely around though. The attackers missing chance after chance is putting our defence under pressure to keep a clean sheet. Im not for one second saying we don’t need improvements there, it’s very clear we do but to lay it all on the defence is ignoring the glaring issues we have going forward too with a crippling lack of pace and a lack of ideas/alternatives. The defence made two errors tonight, the goal and garcia’s Mishit backpass, how many errors did the attackers make with poor finishing/making the wrong decisions/not shooting when they should?

We’re an attacking team, we sacrifice defensive stability to give us an edge in attack so there’s more emphasis on us out scoring our opponent.

Look at all our defeats this season, if we were losing them all in high scoring 5-4 type games then fair enough but we aren’t. There’s only been two like that all season, Norwich which we all recognise as a complete shambles from
Back to front and wolves away which saw us play 80 minutes with 10 men and slowly crumble.

The defence may have cost us the win tonight but our attack are responsible for the loss.
 
We have no pace down the wing. Sterling never goes 1vs1, Mahrez is good but not the fastest. And we’ve been linked to players like Grealish. Pep tries the Spanish system with a bunch of CAM but no threat in front of goal.
 
It seems ridiculous to say, but without specific players (certainly KDB, Foden), we kinda lack any excitement going forward. All our other players can be super predicable and our patterns of play seem monotonous.

I have to disagree really, if we dont give away that cheap goal we win the game comfortably imo. They would have eventually crumbled.

Its like when we went on that 14 game winning run last season, the priority was "to keep a clean sheet" i think and we will score at least one, because at 0-0 our forwards and attacking midfielders can still relax in front of goal.

We must match the dippers for clean sheets to win the league next season, so far me defence is where the problem lies.

Zinchenko is simply not good enough for our midfield, Ukraine is Championship level
