I don’t think it’s being melodramatic to say the next two games are must wins for us. We are now only one point ahead of Chelsea. We need a couple of big performances to close the gap on the dippers and make the rest of the season interesting. I can’t bear the idea of them walking away with the title like we did last year.

This — it’s early days, of course, but if we can’t beat Chelsea, Palace, Leicester, and Soton, then I think it is fair to say we may not deserve the title (even with the help Liverpool are getting from the FA/officiating/other teams). Still quite a lot to happen before the end of the season but such a collection of losses (and performances) would not strengthen our credentials.

FWIW, I think we win today, and possibly by a decent score line.
