Referee was way beyond bad. It was truly pitiful.
As for VAR ... just go away and we will all say we know nothing of your existence.

I thought it looked like Atkinson as the fourth official (hiding under a Tammy and mask) as Pep gave him an absolute cunting before the start of the second half.

Ah, yeah, so Atkinson was 4th official at the stadium, but the main fault on the decisions was fair and square on Madley back at VAR HQ.

the keeper made a mistake and did not get the ball and took fodens leg and ankle ? the attempt to play the ball if their is a man covering the goal would save the keeper from a red ? foden stays up he scores a tap in without contact even if its attempt is seen to be made it stop a clear goal RED CARD ALL DAY LONG

Again, it’s hypothetical anyway as it didn’t happen but the law clearly states that it would not be a red card. Here is the law:

“Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offending player is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off.”

He explained why it wasn't a red card. It's cos they changed the rules. It was a red card all day long a few years ago but it isn't now.

What wasn't? The curates egg or the match ? Thought Southampton were fortunate with their penalty and their goal but they played better than a lot of teams have done at our place. Bad decision from ref and VAR for FODEN penalty shout but some good goals from Mahrez and nice to see KDB get on the score sheet. I am aware a real egg can't be good in parts but i'd say tonight the game was bloody good in most parts

i thought our first goal had been disallowed at first by the total lack of enthusiasm by tyler, and as for the non penalty i went for a beer while we played on knowing a penalty would be awarded eventually.
that goes down as one of the worst displays of reffing ive seen and as for var, i'm fucking nonplussed by the none penalty decision. pep should ask for an explanation, taggart would have been incandescant with rage to ensure it never happened again, even souness said they made themselves look stupid, the keeper took both fodens legs!

It's Moss's normal standard. But today, the VAR mob were even worse.
