Gareth Southgate

But he's the manager. It's down to him to pick the best team to win games, if that means being ruthless and making certain players play less, that's how it has to be.

If a manager let's player politics override his willingness to do what he wants/needs to do, then he's not the man for a big job.

He was a manager who didn't pick the players the club bought or sold. If he didn't do as he was told or make an attempt at squad harmony he would have been sacked sooner.

It's now a case of generalising his experience at one club to how he would react in a very different job. I think it's a case of reading too much into it.

Whether it's right or not, I don't think the players would have enough respect for a manager who has managed a women's team, given the fact a top international women's teams can't beat an under 15s boys when they play against them.

That's not disregarding women's football or having a dig at it and it's not to say that someone who manages in women's football couldn't do well in the men's game. But you have to command the respect of a dressing room to succeed. I'm just not sure how much respect a woman who managed a woman's football team would get from a dressing room of League and Champions League winners from the men's game. That's just being realistic.
Do they want to be cosseted by the fa man or challenged to try something different , if their ego couldnt take it then dont show up to play for england , too much massaging of egos is getting us nowhere

Because she has no experience of managing in men's football. Southgate was crap at tactics, a manager who has never managed in the men's game isn't likely to be an improvement.
She can obviously put some tactics together and motivate players , how many more times are england going to under perform before we try something else

Realistically they're not going to bring in a manager who managed in football at the equivalent (actually lesser) standard of a 15 year old boy's academy team, no matter if the women's game itself is bigger in profile than the 15 years game.

Maybe they are afraid she might win us a trophy , make them look like fools going through every man in the country

Or because she managed a team that the City under 15's would beat in a serious game. She simply wouldn't command the respect. I agree partly because she is a woman and women are not going to get the respect in the men's game from players, but a lot of it is because the standard she has managed at is not comparable.

Southgate wasn't even cut out for the job and he managed in the Premier League for 3 seasons before getting relegated

no serving female manager would take the job, for the reasons outlined above by various contributors

The Dallas fc u14 academy team beating the world champion US women’s national team 4.0 proves its almost a totally different sport
