Southport attacker pleads guilty to murdering three girls | Sentenced to 52 years in prison

Have no fear, British justice is here. Here you go Mr triple killer, have yourself a kettle so you can do some more damage or even better work in the kitchen with boiling water in pans!

What the fuck are we doing with justice in this country? This guy is never getting out of jail. Just lock him up for 24 hrs a day, pass him some food and water and that’s it. Game over mate. Dont give him opportunities to harm people.

After the Hashem Abedi prison officer attack a few weeks ago I’m amazed that these fucking psychos are allowed anywhere near anything that could be used to attack anyone.

should be given plenty of courtyard time with lags missing their kids

This **** has committed the most heinous crimes in this country and he should have nothing in his cell apart from a bed and toilet what the fuck are we letting him have any access to anything.

Is there something in the theory that we become more conservative as we age?

I was completely against the death penalty for years, then 'people' like this come along and you wonder what possible contribution they could ever make to society beyond costing us more to house and feed.

If his brain has some use to science, then fine take it out and slice it up, otherwise what is the literal point in allowing this kind of danger and cost to play out?

I'm genuinely asking for opinions here, is there a merit to letting him continue to breathe? Can we learn from his mentality over time to identify and prevent future incidents? Is it worth it even?

There are plenty of people ready to psychoanalyse parasites like this and tell us what caused their situation, but unless we can translate that into not having such incidents then is it worthwhile? Even if we do find the cause, do we have the money, time and will to address them? When the alternative is potentially stricter US style security even for our kids in daily life, and just hanging the offenders as a cheaper option?

We cry that it's inhumane to have the death penalty. But is it more inhumane (less severe but spread over many more individuals) to let that threat, that symbol of evil, continue to hang around, cost us all money, just to find that either these kind of things are not totally preventable or to prevent them takes resources that our society just doesn't possess.

Either way, personally I hope he's left unattended briefly and one of the other inmates notices.

Good luck with that. I made my feelings known re the death penalty, and faced a shitstorm for it. I wait and see if the same folk who criticised me will do the same to you.

I'd say most of the board and society are probably with you, and I for one couldn't care less what liberals think when I have my own opinion.

"But you're a bad person" wont shift my views and any amount of "What if they are found not guilty in a 100 years?" will alter the fact there are people still breathing air that never should be able to after what they have done.

I think you last line sums up my opinion. I did believe in the death penalty, but after the Birmingham 6, and also reading a fair bit about Steve Earle and the liberal movement in America I changed my mind. I came to the conclusion that “the government “ whoever they are can’t be trusted to do this deed for society. Thought I was being intelligent and grown up. Terrorism cases and the likes of Baby P, just leave me so unsure. Yes this scrote and many others of his ilk deserve to die, I think there is no excuse, or hope, that they can (or will) change. But, I think our society should still be one of those that doesn’t kill its citizens. I’m all for MUCH tougher punishment however, make him work like a dog, make the rest of his life a living misery. I know for sure we don’t have it right at the moment.

From BBC news

"It is not clear how Rudakubana got hold of the hot water. Asked if dangerous prisoners should be allowed access to a kettle in their cell, Mr Wheatley said it was "lower risk" to allow prisoners to boil water in their rooms because the alternative was to have officers bring hot water to prisoners' cells."

Surely the alternative is to bring cold water in a small paper cup?
