Generally these things have a self destruct feature to explode them into small enough bits that they totally burn up on the way back in.

Totally missed this one. Booster successfully launched and caught again.

Does look like a fundamental flaw in the newer design of starship its self tho. They made quite a few changes for the one that launched last time and I think used the same ( with tweaks from info from last one ) this time.
