Spain v Poland
Saturday 19th June 2021
Kicks off at 20:00 (BST) at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, Spain. Capacity at 30%, approximately 18,000.
Coverage begins at 19:30 (BST) on BBC 1, presented by Gary Lineker, analysis from Rio Ferdinand, Jurgen Klinsmann and Cesc Fabregas. Commentary from Steve Wilson and Danny Murphy.
Referee: Daniele Orsato (ITA)
SPAIN
It’s not unusual for Spain to start a tournament slowly, they do it quite often. For the most part they battered Sweden in the 1st game but just couldn’t score. The issue they have is similar to City, they play without a recognised striker, so they knock it around nicely but don’t have somebody in the box often enough. Didn’t really see much from Rodri or Torres in the first game, Laporte was excellent though. I liked the look of Pedri and Thiago was good when he came on.
No Euro 2020 goal scorer.
Starting XI v Sweden:
POLAND
Poland were very underwhelming in their first match, they got beat off of a Slovakian side that they really should be beating. Krychowiak didn’t help getting sent off when they were level, leaving them up against it for the last 30mins. Lewandowski was anonymous, I think everyone’s waiting for him to turn it on in a big tournament. Poland just have to copy the Swedish blueprint now, frustrate Spain and try to take a point so they can go into the match versus Sweden with a chance. A loss still gives them a chance but it makes it a lot harder.
Euro 2020 goal scorers:
Karol Linetty (Torino) - 1
Starting XI v Slovakia:
