Given the injuries to Given and Taylor, I assume we are entitled to an emergency loan. There is one great goalkeeper whose club has no option but to take a decent £500k-£1m to loan him....DAVID JAMES. Then again I'm sure that Birmingham with their questionable finances right now would do a deal. We HAVE to get someone else in.

Wrong.

We have a bunch of young keepers, therefore we don't fufill the requirements of an emergency loan.

thats not how it works

every team will have plenty of keepers below 1st team

we dont really have any senior keepers left after neilson and taylor (and he's injured!)

i'm sure if we apply for an emergancy loan we'd get it, they wont force us to put an U18 keeper in the squad

He can be back at Pompey the day after our West Ham game, problem solved.

Exactly. Having young goalkeepers cant be an argument. Looking into this you need 2 professional goalkeepers fully fit. Is our 4th goalkeeper a "professional"? Can we injure him?

The website actually only lists 3 goalkeepers - one is Joe Hart.

It depends. The rules on an emergency loan are not written in stone, the FA's board decides on a case by case basis.

As we have Gunnar (who is 23), Johansen (who is 18) and that Columbian fella (who is 27), we do meet the unofficial requirements of having two fully fit keepers over the age of 18.

Actually, did that Columbian sign for us or not? Nobody seems to know?

Forward with Gunnar! Let's show faith in the young man. He could prove to be a good goalkeeper and the experience will benefit him no end in the long run.

Are we sure the rules aren't written in stone. They are for the Football League as I found them online. But no sign of Premier League rules. I can find a 2006 case where Villa got dispensation when Thorensen and a certain Stuart Taylor were both injured. We have a strong case and Cook and his team need to throw some serious resource at this issue. It is critical. I'd go as far as saying its worth going to court over to seek a fair dispensation. Its that serious.

And whilst I have nothing against Gunnar, we can't take that kind of gamble. One mistake at this stage could be fatal.

100% mate, it actually says in the Premier League rulebook that it shall be dealt with on a case by case basis by the FA Board.

Pretty fantastic idea, hope the club are looking into something like this. Begovic at Stoke would be a good call as well.

exactly, lets stop dreaming, we are not getting a new goally, no loans, no joe hart back, nothing. we have gunnar, hes 23 he looks commanding(only 10mins but still) lets get behind him hes all weve got, lets not do a berbatov to the lad( as in wanting a half fit rooney instead of a fully fit guy)
i have faith, he has a lot to prove and i bet he is raring to go, no complacency and will hopefully make the team feel they have to play better to not leave him exposed. kasper came in two seasons ago played 4/5 games(cant remember) and didnt concede till we played arsenal, think he even saved a pen if my memory served me right, it can happen.
lets give this lad a warm reception. HES A BLUE!

Does anyone think we will be given any help here? Not a chance, everyone wants us to fail, we couldn't even get a work permit for Ronald McDonald in January.

In Gunnar we trust!

please get behind this guy, I really don't know some fans after reading some posts on here but if you read his comments at the OS post match he seems like a great guy, playing for his country's pride.

All this talk of "emergency loans" I hope it's for a backup to our Gunnar!

Of course the fans are going to be behind him, but I'd rather have an experienced goalkeeper pushing for the England number 1 spot than a rookie with 30 mins premiership football in for what is one of the most important run ins in the club's history.

It won't happen though. These next week weeks could make Gunnar a cult hero.
