I can speak on this subject as my own mother (Christine) is a Clairvoyant Medium/Tarot Reader etc.
She's been doing this most (if not all) of my life so I know alot about it all.

Honestly - she truly believes she has communication with this "spirit world" and this stems from in her words having visions of future events such as her boyfriend at the time (1977) being killed in a motorbike accident, to regularly being given information when she does events/personal tarot readings and so on.
Do I believe it? No, as she hasn't given me those lottery numbers yet. I haven't fully communicated with "dead people" like she says she does, so I'm still on the fence.
My own view is it could be part truth/part schizophrenia maybe? who knows... All I know is people regularly come back to see my mother, giving her feedback on how much accurate evidence she has given.
I've been in audiences at shows where she has demonstrated how accurate she can be with names/dates/locations and predicted future events it has blown my mind but as I said - she hasn't given me those bloody lotto numbers yet :(
There is definitely something, maybe an ancient way in which humans once communicated, gradually bred out of us, similar to how other animals can communicate telepathically, we've just lost this ability but others (such as my mother) can still do it.
