Anyone into them?

Only recently started listening to them. Heard the odd song before that but dowloaded a few of there albums and I'm into it.

Ladies and Gentlement we are floating in space is a wicked album. Broken Heart gets me every time!

Aint got the new album yet but im lead to believe its decent

Got tickets to see them at London Roundhouse in October - anyone seen them live? Any good?

"All I want in Life is a little bit of love to take the pain away" - How very apt!!

Great band - seen them Christ knows how many times.
Jason Pierce is a genius - check out his former band Spacemen 3 if you like Spiritualized.
New CD "Songs in A&E" is probably their best yet - one of the best releases this year,IMO.
Will be going to the gig you mention, and another 5 dates this autumn.
PM me nearer the time if you fancy hooking up for a beer or several.

Seen them loads of times. They were untouchable a few years ago and one of the best live acts in the country. Unfortunately, their last few albums have been carbon copies of previous albums with too many drug lament songs with gospel choir choruses.

At least they have managed to lose the freeform jazz elementwhich saw the band disappear up their backsides for 30mins of each gig.

Still worth seeing though

Ladies and Gentlemen is superb and then goes pretty great (not superb) at the end. Album is more or less Pierce's depression after losing his woman to Richard Ashcroft.

The title of the album is taken from the philosophical novel Sophie's World, by Jostein Gaarder, the context being:

"Only philosophers embark on this perilous expedition to the outermost reaches of language and existence. Some of them fall off, but others cling on desperately and yell at the people nestling deep in the snug softness, stuffing themselves with delicious food and drink. 'Ladies and Gentlemen,' they yell, 'we are floating in space!' But none of the people down there care."

The album itself is a lovelorn, bittersweet affair, painfully tender and intimate in places. It was rumoured that it was about his breakup with his ex-girlfriend (and Spiritualized keyboard player), Kate Radley, who had secretly married Richard Ashcroft of The Verve. Despite the obvious heartache contained within the album, Pierce has continually rejected this

He can deny it all he wants ;)

He has a face designed for anti-drug campaigns, I bought that album on the strength of a review in the awful NME and a full page picture of him.
