Sporting CP (H) - CL Last 16 | Post Match Thread

Well that was 10 hours of my life I won't get back - not sure the match was really worth the trip.

I get that job is done and good to be into Quarter Finals where this competition really starts (unless you are PSG), good to see Egan-Riley play a full game, he looks tidy enough - (If he ever gets a song of his own please can it be Eton Rifles).

McAtee also had a good half game - he fits nicely in, with close touch and neat passing - shame his little back heel to Gabriel came to nothing.

And we saw that Pep has a soft side when he sent Carson on - who came up with a great save. Would have been typical City if he had then had to go off injured - but I guesss however sore it was he wasn't coming off.

But really it was all very disappointing - and in front of an almost full crowd, made up of occasional visitors many of who were youngsters, it would have been good to put on more than the pre-match light show.

If it is any consolation it can't of been great for their fans, all that way and your team does not even try. I know they wanted to keep it tight but you think they would have at least give it a go around the half hour mark. If they could have scored a couple before half time who knows? And if we had scored then they could have just gone back to their formation.

From what I saw not many of them watched the game, not that I blame them that much.

It looked like it was on the line. Maybe they did look but couldn’t give a pen and don’t get involved in free kick. having said that, how the ref didn’t give a free kick is beyond me
The line is part of the area! I think we get refs who are determined no matter what happens in a tackle they aren't giving a pen. I wonder what they do if the back line started playing basketball! They'll have decided it wasn't even on the line, but it was a blatant foul.
