Three well deserved points from a surprisingly good game on a poor pitch. Sky TV's attempt to tell us that "it was a lot better than it looked" couldn't hide for very long the fact that it was bad enough and that conditions varied from one part of the pitch to another. Our two who struggled most were Mendy and Walker and - surprise, surprise - Trippier and Davies had poor games for them. These were the four poor devils condemned to play in the worst areas of the pitch out wide where the bounce was more irregular than elsewhere and where, at times, the ball could hold up. The roll of the ball everywhere though accounts for the much lower quality of ball control, the number of mis-hit passes, skyed passes (and shots!) and players caught in possession in dangerous areas (eg KdB for the only time ever and Mahrez for the Lamela chance - what the pitch giveth the pitch taketh away - both in the wide areas so badly affected). But City not only coped with these conditions better, they also showed that if we can't thrill with sumptuous football there's a good' flinty seam of resilience in this team.
