Spurs (A) Post match Thread

Three well deserved points from a surprisingly good game on a poor pitch. Sky TV's attempt to tell us that "it was a lot better than it looked" couldn't hide for very long the fact that it was bad enough and that conditions varied from one part of the pitch to another. Our two who struggled most were Mendy and Walker and - surprise, surprise - Trippier and Davies had poor games for them. These were the four poor devils condemned to play in the worst areas of the pitch out wide where the bounce was more irregular than elsewhere and where, at times, the ball could hold up. The roll of the ball everywhere though accounts for the much lower quality of ball control, the number of mis-hit passes, skyed passes (and shots!) and players caught in possession in dangerous areas (eg KdB for the only time ever and Mahrez for the Lamela chance - what the pitch giveth the pitch taketh away - both in the wide areas so badly affected). But City not only coped with these conditions better, they also showed that if we can't thrill with sumptuous football there's a good' flinty seam of resilience in this team.

Was it the filthy cvnts challenge on Sterling that impressed you most?

Lets wait and see which incident gets more coverage today, that or Mendy's fresh air swing(after being jabbed in the back of the head by another of your filthy cvnts)
I didnt think Sissokos was all that bad. It looked worse on replay but Sterling and Sissoko shook hands afterwards. Aguero went late on Trippier and so did Walker on Moura which i didnt think was bad either. Mendy on Lamela was nothing either. It wasn't a dirty game for me. A mans game on a dodgy pitch

I can't believe the lack of pre-match nerves I had at Wembley last night or the lack of anxiety during the game. There was one heart in the mouth moment but I really didn't feel they would score against us. Quite amazing.

A very satisfying win.

Good professional team performance.
Ref was poor with his bookings.
Sergio foul and blatant hand ball in the second half somehow no cards shown.

Must also add though... Heart in the mouth moment with Edderson! Not only for the game but for the season. That's one massive single point of failure, we got to buy someone in January imo

I feel like this every game now. I expect us to win rather than slip up. It’s amazing the confidence that the team has following last years achievements. We are such a good side currently. Top class. I even think this season could be better than last in terms of success.

Opposite for me. I didn't enjoy watching it and I was glad when it was over. It was so frustrating seeing us unable to play properly, like we were on an ice rink. You just knew that a bobble was going to create a chance for them and I was pretty convinced that we needed a second to be sure. In retrospect I agree totally with your comments - we defended really solidly.
