Spurs (A) Post match Thread

Wow!!! Fernandinho!!!! I think he’s the only player in our team that looks irreplaceable at the moment the only position we don’t have cover
There is a place we visit every season for a few months mainly during the summer called the Transfer Forum - You should check it out its a great way to kill 4/5 hrs a day.

Nowt wrong with that. He knew he was nowhere the lad as he had turned away. Nothing more than a shadow punch but out of frustration. No malice. Would have hurt had he meant it and aimed it
Aye, that makes sense. Mendy''s daft (the words "daft as a brush" just came to me, remember that?) but Sane has a bit of nastiness to him, that's the difference.

I hope to god he wasn't actually trying to punch him. Had he connected with that, he'd have had a whole season ban at least.

On the night I thought that. Looking at the replay, I think it was more a gesture of frustration rather than an actual attempt to twat him. Anyway, I’m sure that will be his defence if the authorities pick up on it.

Either way, it wasn’t a great idea.

Anyone saying Mendy should be punished for his action to Lamela needs to have a word.

In other news, I’ve been flabbergasted to read today that we were lucky and that the pitch played fine.

1. We were in near total control of the game and could have stepped it u if necessary. This element of our play - game management - is a a distinct improvement on last season and aeons away from the season before, and bodes very very well going forward, particularly in Europe. The option/willingness to play long passes (NB not ‘long balls) also gives us another dimension, particularly if playing on a ploughed field.

2. The pitch played better than it looked but that’s not saying much. It clearly affected the way both teams play, although affected us more as we were always going to have more possession even allowing for more long passes than usual. Lamela’s miss following a bobble was delicious poetic justice, both for him personally and Spurs as a club presiding over this new stadium shitshow.

Great result.
That pitch was an embarrassment, this is the English Premiership ffs, having that NFL logo on it and all the lines was shambolic, somebody (probably Spurs) should get their arses kicked for it, they fucked up the building of their stadium and we have to suffer.
Mendy was a liability and walker had a pretty bad game, all the others played very well, Ferna, David & Laporte were excellent (and Ederson)
I though Pep shouldve brought Sane on for Raz on 70min as Raz seemed to be tiring and Sane's pace wouldve made a difference.
Good game to watch although the last 7 or 8 minutes were a bit painful , So happy we won.

So we played well?

Not directed at me I know but I’ll answer anyway.

Yes we did. Overall. Our biggest issue right now is the inability to convert the multiple chances we create. As pep said, we will not get away with that in the later stages of the champions league. A game is always risky at 1 nil.

The chances they had were through our own mistakes and I’ll attribute that to the state of the pitch.

They were big and physical and we stood up to it. In fact almost invited it in the last 25 minutes which surprised me.

We dealt with it though.

Good performance

This is where there is a massive difference between sides in the PL. There are those sides that just smack the ball upfield when they haven't anyone stationed where the ball will land, and had they such player, he would be fifteen yards offside, there are those teams who smack the ball wide out to the wings thinking that their winger will be hugging the touchline, maybe, there are those teams who know they have a winger but over hit the ball and we get a goal kick, and then there's us - passes over fifty or sixty yards that are killed stone-dead! I hope the massed hordes of PL defences are watching these moves and have checked their wardrobes to see if they have a pair of brown trousers.
