Spurs (A) | Post-Match Thread

It was expected for a number of reasons

1) Spurs new manager, extra motivation
2) full pre-season for them, a few days for us
3) city playing with 4th choice defenders in Mendy/Ake
4) full stadium effect for the first time in 18 months

On saying the above as we know football is small margins and we had more big chances but didn't take them

The fitness and sharpness was key and hopefully we win the next 2 home games. After the international break we will be a lot sharper and caught up with other teams in that aspect

I don't really like slagging off our own players as it's clear they're all giving 100%.

Like everyone else I am disappointed tonight but we have no reason to doubt it will be a great season yet again

If Mendy was playing for us as an amateur he'd be overpaid.
The good news is we have some better players to come in when fully fit.
I'm sure we'll be OK. It's just one game, and if we'd won 9-0 it still would only be one game.

Wait until January and put in a 120m bid for Haaland. Spuds can keep Kane. Wouldn't want to give them and Levy our money to be honest.

Maybe a knee jerk reaction to my sour grapes. I dunno.

With Kane in the team today we win that game at a canter. Simple as that.. and our season probably now depends on getting his transfer over the line
Don’t think it is as linear as that personally.

Things aren’t always that simple. 2 years left on his contract, 100k a week wages and with his performances the last couple seasons I doubt even championship clubs would be interested. Honestly, what clubs do you think could possibly sign him?
Give over man, we pay his wages so he is free to any club that has him, he will have plenty of clubs prepared to take him in France or Italy.

On loan of course.

What excuses did Mendy, Ake and Cancelo have, certainly wasn't tiredness.

Horrible from so many but the glaring issue remains and a top striker would have made little difference today.

The defensive midfield is too slow when the ball breaks down.

Fern still sees the danger but his legs can't get him there.

Gundo, Rodri, nobody solves this issue right now, certainly when we want to front load the top half of the pitch.

Thought Grealish was a real positive.

never seen it before , another first no doubt never to be seen again , file alongside owens winner at ot (time added on in time added for subs and over celebrating by us ) , new rules on corners for holding (away to stoke )sterling penalised ..stoke awarded a pen , red card for celebrating with fans that had encroached the pitch , sterling shoulder offside against west ham , spurs handball goal in the CL , aguero offside in the same game.....all funnily enough went against us but rules I wasnt aware of never to be seen again
I vaguely remember the (added on time)x3 being justified for Owens winner included 30 seconds for each substitution, 90 seconds for a kick off after bellamy`s equaliser, another 30 seconds for unforseen circumstances plus a tolerance of 60 seconds. This gave a grand total of seven minutes plus to be applied only If united were in possession. Never heard of any of those reasons (excuses) before. Never to be seen again.
