Spurs Thread | 2024/25

It's probably a slightly offensive thing to say. However there is an element of truth in that if you have grown up in a society largely consisting of one racial grouping people of other racial groupings tend to look similar and be difficult to distinguish. Not sure a 7 game ban is appropriate.
Not done any more looking into this, but from memory, it was reported that because it was in a broadcast TV interview, the breach is automatically upgraded to an aggravated breach, which is a 6-12 game ban.

It seems ludicrous that a social media written post doesn’t have to be an aggravated breach, whereas some interview for Colombian TV is.

Think the legislation needs adapting.

Looking at the stats that SSN just put up on screen, not necessarily so. Their records with and without him are nearly identical.
They are tenth and have lost half their games, their away record is terrible, but we all know it doesn't matter when they face us, mainly because we gift them the same goal over and over again, hopefully none of that rubbish this Saturday, we have to win and get at least a point at the dippers and we'll be in a very good position despite the recent setbacks.

Jesus Christ. Overreaction much?

Nope, right decision. needs to be made an example.

  • There were 395 reports of "player-targeted" racist abuse in stadiums and online to KIO in the 2023-24 season - up from 277 in 2022-23.
  • 55% of those reports of racism aimed at specific players last season was towards those from an East Asian background.
  • Of the 937 player-specific abuse reports to KIO in the past five full seasons, 327 of them (35%) have been directed at just seven East and South East Asian players.
Kick It Out chief executive Samuel Okafor said: "We are getting a lot of reports about this type of racism.

"It’s fans sending us a clear message they are not willing to tolerate discrimination and it’s a message that football needs to listen to."

To be fair I did say after that post I could see why he got the ban as I’d not read in entirety what he’s said. 7 is too harsh for me, but in this day and age you can’t say that.

If there were bans in my school in the 80s for what people said to each other from different ethnicities, the school would have been empty.

In the 70's a lot of the teachers would have been banned !!

Different times now as you say. But I think despite that, you’re comparing apples and oranges a bit. He’s a grown man, whereas kids at school are, well, just kids. They deserve more leeway due to their age.

This day and age being the age of slow witted, humourless, extremely precious, virtue signalling, shallow, mellow dramatic, easily offended, closet stasi, narcissistic, soya addicted rimsapiens?

When we sing the have you ever seen spurs win the league song. it's got to the stage now that anyone who can remember it will be about 70 or older now so it's very doubtful especially at an away game that any of them have.
