Spurs V City Live from the academy now

2-0 with the game near over, got Haringey by the throat and we settle for some first team defending. I've frozen off my arse and seen a two nil lead pissed up the wall! I shall be back next Wednesday and Davies had better have it sorted! BE a stiffer test too with the Dippers.

Thankfully it won't be Davies leading that team.

Overall tonight I thought we were quite poor. Yes there were some good attacking moments and we probably should have scored more but Spurs had a bunch of chances too and could easily have scored more. We never really had full control of the game bar the early part of the 2nd half where we went two up. Never fully had control of midfield and Spurs got at us far too easily to create chances. Players missing or out of position ( nothing new there) and some just not having their best game ( Humphreys I thought really struggled)

Was a bit like watching the first team at their worst. A lot of individual skill but didn't play as a team. The game was played at a high tempo but it needed someone to stand in midfield, slow things down and take control, like Yaya would. It was all too frantic. There seemed to be no organisation or getting into a proper shape when we needed to defend.

There was one passage of play that summed it up for me. Fernandes got the ballnear the goal-line near the corner flag and made a lovely little run past a defender to the edge of the box. He played a dangerous ball across the box but there was only one player of ours in the six yard box while three stood on the 18 yard and watched instead of attacking the goal. Then hey broke, beat one defender who really shouldn't have been beaten, crossed the ball and got it into the danger area where there were three Spurs players lurking. There may have been a handball for the goal - wasn't really sure - but the point was that they had men in the danger area while ours stood back and watched in a similar situation. If that's the future of our team then god help us.

Not super familiar with other teams' academies...is the EDS team that we normally put out much younger than their opponents? Or are all "U23" teams made up of lots of teenagers?
