Squad Numbers - 2011/12

Joe Hart will stay at 25, He has always had it at City, and he had it when he was on loan out at Birmingham, and it was probably a big part of the reason why Adebayor was moved to no 9 last season

I'd like De Jong to move to number 6 or 8 or something move suited to a starter but in this day of squad numbers its not really a priority anymore as you can get associated with a certain number much like Tevez and 32

My impression of the traditional number for each position is:

1 - GK
2 - RB
3 - LB
4 - CDM
5 - CB (more technical one)
6 - CB (more physical one)
7 - RM
8 - CM/CAM
9 - ST
10 - CF
11 - LM
4 and 6 possibly swapped around

So I suppose Dzeko would fit the number 9 mould, with maybe Balotelli/Silva a number 10.

When are they released?

Looks like Clichy will get 22 - see 18 secs into the training - day 1 video on the os.

Recon Yaya will move to 24 as its been vacated by Paddy and its his fave number as paddy is his hero.
The players tend to just put on the first training top that comes to hand, irrespective of what number it is. So i would read absolutely nothing into Clichy wearing 22 in training.

The other players all had their actual numbers, and with Clichy wearing 22 at Arse it makes sense

this is how i see them. it's funny how these things stay with you. i almost had a nervous breakdown when zinedine zidane took number 5 at madrid.

Biggest headf*ck for me was the 78 World Cup - Ardiles number 1!!
