Stan Collymore on Talksport now

Collymore is going on about Moriniho "crowning his legacy" by joining a "special club" like Liverpool or United.

I could see the appeal in resurrecting Liverpool but how would carrying on Fergunson success be "crowning his legacy"?

If he won the FA Cup he would be a legend with us!

Too true.

I can understand why a player would want to go to one of the Sky Four to test themselves, as Stanley asserts, but this merely preserves the status quo - something he doesn't seem to have grasped. But as for managers, why would anyone want to follow in Ferguson's footsteps? Any aspiring manager might as well throw himself into an early grave!

I like Stan, mainly for the way he makes a ludicrous comment and sticks to it like glue. The more he argues to maintain his position the worse he makes it for himself. Chelsea weren't much of a team a decade ago, but hey-ho, all that's all been forgotten about now. After all they're a Sky Four club nowadays and, for all he goes on about history, the rags' history started barely 50 years ago while Liverpool's started shortly after. Liverpool weren't much in 1959: a middling Second Division team until Bill Shankly took over and even then it took him another five years to win the League. For all Stanley's ranting about history, he doesn't seem to know about this or even care.

He also questions why Mourinho would come to City, but says in defence of his going to Chelsea, "everyone has to start somewhere" - apparently not an option for clubs like ours, you'll note. Conveniently he forgets that Mourinho had already won the Chumps' League at Porto - something that Chelsea for all their wealth still haven't managed - and was therefore a retrograde step, surely?

In all of this, no-one mentioned a manager who won two European Cups at a small, unfashionable club. Although Brian Clough had retired by the time Stanley arrived at Forest I'm sure the latter was aware of the former's triumphs seeing as he's so big on history - bigger IMO than anything Ferguson has achieved and ever will. Left to Stan and his media ilk, this will never happen again. In fact, they'd make sure it didn't.

What a f***** tool. I just wasted a quid on a text which Saggers read out about why the fuck would Mourinho go to Liverpool when they have no money, and Collymore just decided to ignore the facts and bang on about history.

Bell-end
