NEW EPISODE: Stan Horne

Tales of Blue caught up with City's iconic former player Stan Horne to share his memories of Joe Mercer & Malcolm Allison, sending his doctors letter to Joe asking for a trail, breaking through, Division Two & One title wins, Johnny Crossan's pranks, Colin Bell, Alan Oakes, injury heartache and his sheer pride at receiving his title medal some 53 years later.

Many great memories of Stan’s City era side.
Stan, Dave Connor, Mike Doyle,Glyn Pardoe, Johnny Crossan, Nelly Young, Alan Oakes,Harry Dowd/Alan Ogley in nets.
And possibly Dave Baccuzi,I can just about remember him playing for City in 1966 when I first started going to Maine Road with my Dad and Uncle.
And people reckon I'm a glory hunter !!

I started going to Maine Rd in the 2nd half of that 65/66 season as well, most of those names were in the team on my first visit. I remember that derby at the swamp that was mentioned in the interview, Mike Summerbee had a goal disallowed at the Stretford End for a tight offside call - the bias was there even back then!

Great interview with Stan, he looks in good nick for 78, a shame his career at City was hampered by that bad achilles injury.

I looked up Dave Baccuzi's time at City ,and I was correct that he was playing regularly for City that season.
However the one glaring error that I left off was Bobby Kennedy, who became the replacement full back for Dave Baccuzi.

Roy Cheetham is another name that's popped into my head, I seem to recall him playing the odd game around that time.
