State Pension Increases

Basically pensioners should be getting around 8% they are looking at dropping it to 6% to save money.

Breaking their own pledge they got elected on, they shouldn't be allowed to. It sets a dangerous precedent, any government can just claim unusual precedents and renegade on their promises. That weasel Sunak has just given poorer countries over a billion pounds of our money to help with their green policies. Another money making racket lining the pockets of the rich and impacting the poor.

I'm 37. I don't think i'll ever get to retire....

Go on benefits mate there's not much difference, especially when you retire. To be honest I'll be amazed if the world is still here by then, though I certainly won't be here to see it.

My thoughts exactly.
Surely Rishi understands that, and overrules Jeremy Hunt and his treasury department.
Otherwise he is committing political suicide in my opinion.
The tories will be looking forward to a period in opposition. Everyone including them knows a change is coming. They will crack that triple lock first. Labour wont protest too much either probably

You do realise that the current generation of pensioners are the wealthiest age group in society and the wealthiest pensioners to have ever existed?

Are they really? Not all of them, many are still living in abject poverty. If they were, so fucking what? They've worked hard, many of them have paid their taxes and national insurance for over fifty years. Why shouldn't they have a few years enjoying life? Even with these "Massive increases" they're crying about it will only take the state pension up to a huge.....wait for it.....£11,500 a year. Hardly enough to live a champagne lifestyle is it?

The politics of envy is the new way mate.

I’m with you pal, death will be a welcome break from all this shit! The way the world is going I think an asteroid would solve all the problems, the more I see of the way it’s going the more I don’t think we deserve it. The selfishness of the majority is on another level now, no one gives a shit about an out anything but themselves.

Honestly mate, I’ve been saving into a private pension for over a decade (I’m in my early 30s). Thought I was being the sensible one who would be laughing in my 60s. Now seriously thinking I could have just gone on holiday twice a year instead.

The politics of envy is the new way mate.

It's the media and government way they have to demonise somebody and it's usually pensioners, single mothers, people with disabilities and those on benefits.
If any pensioners are wealthy as old Jacko says, it's because they worked their bollocks off, paid off their mortgage and paid into a private pension. The reason they did that IS so they can have a comfortable retirement. If they just have a state pension they're fucked even with top ups.

Thing is if you just have the state pension, it will probably just about pay your bills when you get to retirement age (if it’s still around) the you private one comes in, of course that will be taxed as well, so make sure it’s decent because you’ll need to it to pay for your dementia home!

The fiscal drag with the free pay allowance on tax is having more effect on Pensions than whatever bit is shaven off the triple lock.

While the narrative is to shake a fist at us oldies, the deflection of the tax allowance erosion is ignored by the masses who like us are also getting shafted.
