How did this clown ever get to become manager of the Republic of Ireland? Till today he was manager of bottom of the league Darlington

He is an absolute clown alright. I'm surprised he even managed to land the Darlington job. Career is probably finished now though

Didn't realise he was managing anywhere. He was useless in the Ireland job; that ancient gag about the brewery springs to mind when you thik of "Stan".

How did the FAI let it happen, the bloke is clearly unsuited for management at any level.

I think he hadn't managed anywhere at club level (assistant manager at Walsall?) before he got the Ireland job. I have always had Darlo as my second team since being a kid - think the final straw re Staunton was the attendance of 1400 on Saturday.The Quakers have gone down before and will get back again.
