Steaua Bucharest AWAY leg - useful info for travelling Blues

As long as the pubs are open I don't mind...

Before you hit the old town and really go on the lash, the German owned bar ''Deutsche Kneipe" near Dinamo Bucharest's ground is well worth a pre piss up pint and food before you hit the old town which is about a £3 taxi ride away. Just tell the owner the city fan sent you ;) He's a top bloke and Eike Immel fan! Recommend the chicken!

Either get the metro to Piata Muncii nearest metro the ground and have a stroll early doors or at 1.39 lei per km - a taxi return to old town is approx 20 lei including waiting, so about 4 quid.
Thanks very much
Intend to get the airport bus to Piata Unirri and then the metro to the ground to pick up the tickets.
Then either metro or stroll to the hotel to check in.
Following that looking to meet up in a good bar in the old town.

Yes mate not a bad shout, sounds like you know what you're doing. The 783 is the bus you want to Unirii, just outside arrivals door at airport, buy ticket before getting on bus as you can't buy on the bus - it was about 7/8 lei last time I used it, but as a taxi is only 30 lei (6 quid) I much prefer this as it's quicker and less hassle with luggage, BUT appreciate Blues on a quick stopover won't have a suitcase with them, so bus not a bad shout, BUT without air con you'll be sweltering mate.

From Muncii metro the ticket office is approx 10 min stroll, and gives you a chance to see where you need to be heading later that evening, so again good idea pal, enjoy !

For the metro go to kiosk inside station and ask for a 10 trip card (you get 10 separate trips for I think it's 12 lei (£2.50) ... so each time you re-enter metro it's classes as 1 trip... usually works out cheaper as you'll use up 2 trips getting to the ground for your tickets.

We are staying over night at the RIN near the airport on Monday night, we get in late, so was thinking of getting the bus from outside the hotel the next morning.
How can you do that if they don't accept payment on the bus?

Plenty of ticket booths about for the bus on bust main roads, petrol stations, supermarkets etc and better still one at airport when you land, look for blue and white signs which say RATB on them, a bit like our GM bus in Manchester, RATB is their version.

Should be able to buy a 'dus intors' return ticket prior to your morning journey from airport at night when you land, just explain it's for the next day, BUT if you land after midnight, your ticket will be for the morning bus ride into town anyway!

As like anywhere some pretty helpful people about at the airport (people in uniform not locals trying to blag you in a taxi) The bus you want is 783 and runs every 15-20 mins in day and I think every 40 at night, and is a 24 hour service, so no worries getting back to hotel after game or night in the old town.

RIN hotel should do a free shuttle service to pick you up when you land, it's a bit tricky to walk as it's crossing a road almost like a motorway, so you should be able to arrange a free shuttle with your hotel, plus guarantee reception at hotel will be helpful with travel into town be it their own or simply helping with directions to the RATB bus stops etc.
