Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

You really seem to have a downer on the lad. He also won us double digit points with his goals, many of them late - 16 points wasn't it? It beats me why this guy is always singled out. yes he misses chances but so does every other good striker in the PL - someone posted the stats this evening that proved it. His movement is second to none and he works like a bloody trojan. He also stays level headed and concentrates on his football when faced with the worst media persecution I have ever seen a young footballer subject to. He might not fit your ideal as a footballer but mate, he is a young technically gifted English player that would walk into any of the top 6 premier teams + the European elite. If we don't pay him what is commesurate with his ability and standing with those that know what they are talking about...someone else surely will.
No downer on him, at all.

Like him, think he is hard worker, etc, etc, etc...

I’m merely being attacked for suggesting he isn’t the most technically proficient or talented player in the squad. He has had one great season...as did many others...but he scored goals and played well. NONE of this is about that...it’s about his contract and whether he is worth “finished article” type money. I don’t think he is, because I think he needs to mature both technically and in his finishing.

From there, everyone comes out of the woodwork with “how dare you” and posting his best ever goal! Silly stuff!

Why Sterling should not negotiate hard for top money after being a core member of a team which broke almost every single PL record? If rags had done this they would have paid a young player like him more money than Sanchez.

All the more reason for him to get the best deal he can as he has to deal with all kinds of crap playing in his own country.
Absolutely!

15m 5 year contract = 75m
New player of his equivalent fee for the the player plus 5 year contract will be far more than 75m plus we have a player in Sterling who 23 who knows the league is settled contributing to our wins. Whose to say sterling goes we buy someone and he be as good as sterling?!

So 15m a year doesn’t seem that much to me.
Look at this Chicago, look...math(s).

I couldn't agree more,it's perfectly reasonable,objective,thinking.

I could bet dollars to donuts that the "...he's a future Ballon d'Or winner..." guff would be posted if Sané requests similar money.

Would be all "potential" never mind current standing

I'll never understand it. There's a year between them bit sane apparently is going too improve in every aspect whereas raheem... won't?

NOT putting Sane down, under pep in this team he can be anything. But there is a double standard.

To be fair, I think most people would agree that Sané has a higher ceiling than Sterling, it's just whether he applies himself.

A very sensible view. I can’t see the point in selling. He seems to be getting better each season.

This will get done. We have too much invested in him to just move him on, started the season very brightly. Understands what Pep wants (+ future managers will need), is homegrown, seems a good lad for banter and team fit. Makes financial and footballing sense.
