Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Guardiola went on Monday Night Football to say of him and Raheem Sterling: "They can do better. I have that feeling.

"If I didn't believe it I wouldn't say, but I think they can in simple things, the dribbling, first control, how you receive the ball and take decisions.

"It's training in smaller spaces and focusing on control, because that is the reality that is going to happen."

Hmmmmm....what would be another term for that????

Oh yeah....TECHNICAL ABILITY!!!

From the mouth of Pep himself!
He needs to score goals when hes one on one with the keeper as well, which even Sterling says he needs to improve on, all the above you mentioned he takes in his stride, and has done it already this season.

Thought about it, and....,nope.

In Peps own words...

That isn't the same thing.

He clearly plays Sterling as first choice, often, when everyone is available.

If he only plays 'technical players', then Sterling must be a 'technical player' otherwise, he doesn't only play technical players.

You can't have it both ways, or tbh, either way.

Pep plays him, because he's good enough & believes he can be better & wants him to improve, as he is doing, year on year.

He also tries to improve Aguero, Silva & KDB.

When do BMs think the club will decide he has to have committed to signing a new contract by (and why)?

I don't think it will be that clear cut.

After January they'll be making proper efforts to find a replacement and clubs interested in buying him, maybe negotiations with Ward will stop, but because or the large cost of replacing him and the fact Pep wants him to stay if possible, there'll probably be a contract offer on the table until pretty much the moment he leaves.

I sincerely hope guardiola is coaching all of the players. He is paid 10 million a year to improve them all , Sterling included.
If he said of a player " I cannot improve him" that would be the time to worry.

Which players do you think haven’t improved under Pep? I can’t think of any, so I reckon he coached them all, a lot

I reckon they’ll be happy with ‘some way through the season’ (whenever that may be).

Let both parties feel comfortable with the wage offered and sign him up ’til 2023. If it gets to next Summer we’ll look to sell. Chelsea would buy him I reckon.

I’d rather he signed and he stayed, mind.
