Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Let him see out his contract and say goodbye, no player is irreplaceable and we will move on, I for one havnt forgiven him for his first half misses against the vermin last season that would of wrapped up the league, yes he bagged a few but that game is deep rooted in my memory, so its sign a new deal or go with a big thanks for his efforts
Mental, hope it a wind-up. His goals got us to the point where we could of beaten them on that day.

1) He’s not a striker.
2) His all-around play as a False 9 was great.
3) We concede 3 second-half goals and blame an attacker?

He couldn’t hit a barn door that day, but to single him out is crazy.

As The Verve once said, they don’t work, weird fucking plank

You little wum you ;)

I read that he isn't asking for parity with KDB, Aguero etc. We have such good players that surely we have to accept that the downside is they will want wages that fit their talent. We can talk about wage limits etc and nobody being bigger than the club but if KDB had said he wanted fifty thousand more a week and the club had refused due to our wage structure many on here would have had a breakdown. I think Sterling played a huge part of last season and is carrying it on this season so imo we would be foolish to lose him unless his demands are ridiculous which if he isn't asking for as much as KDB then they don't seem to be. This team is young and could be together for years I would love to keep all the pieces in place.

We dont know what he is asking for, that is the bottom line. The debate and sometimes angst amongst posters is purely predicated on what is reported / speculated by journalists

You are right of course but my overall view is that providing he isn't asking for more than Aguero etc then we would be better off paying him in order to keep this team together.

Cant we sell somebody like Danillo and give Raz his wage as well :)
Pity we cant just do that, as we really need to keep Sterling, he is vital to the way we play.

Tricky situation this, how do you keep Raz happy with his wages without pissing off others ?

Its frustrating not knowing whats going on.

It is clear Raz is certainly an important player for us, his stats do not lie. But what I do like about this current squad, is that we no longer appear to depend on individuals, like we once did. The stresses we all had only a couple of years ago, wondering what would happen if we didn't have Kompany, Yaya, Merlin and Aguero in the starting team. But we have now assembled a squad, where it appears we have the ability to restructure, so we don't feel a huge impact when one player is missing. We haven't had a bad start to the season whilst missing arguably our best player.

It is strange how this has dragged on for so long, and personally I want him to stay, but I do feel we have an assembled squad, to cover us if he does go.
