Steve Bruce yesterday slagged off owners for chopping and changing managers, without giving them significant time. So it's not OK to upgrade your manager then is it Bruce? But I'm guessing he has a different belief when it comes to managers upgrading their job.
This would be the same Bruce who left Wigan after just two months for a better job at Palace. Who he then ditched after just three months to become Birmingham manager.
He complained about the average tenure for managers being just over 18 months these days. Well, Stephen, you failed to mention that your reign of just, yes, 18 months is included in that statistic, after which you once again decided to upgrade your position.
So whats the difference between a club upgrading their manager, and a manager upgrading his club? Maybe you should just keep quiet, and be thankful that you wern't around 100 years ago, in which case Joseph Merrick would have had a much easier life.
So there. Nothing to do with whether Hughes should or shouldn't have gone, but how young Bruce should look at himself before being critical of others.
