A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that this pleb's weekly column was again dedicated to City bashing. Now, don't get excited, I don't buy the Sun. I get a lift home off a lad who buys it so have a gander. This was the third time in four weeks he'd slated us so I thought I'd contact him to ask for an explanation :
Anyhow, within an hour, he'd emailed back :
I appreciated him replying so thanked him in the best way I could think of :
I awaited his next response but unfortunately it wasn't forthcoming.
citykev28 said:Good afternoon Steven,
I'm writing this e-mail in response to your (many) columns in the Sun newspaper regarding Manchester City. On three or four occasions during the last month or so, I have read a copy of the newspaper on a Friday (only because I get a lift home from work from a Sun reader) and have noticed a trend in your article. You seem to be obsessed with the goings on at Eastlands. In your latest article, you claim City have been likened to Barcelona since the Swansea City match. Sorry, I must have missed that. Who was comparing us to Barcelona. I apologise for mentioning the Catalan outfit twice in quick succession, I know it must be a sore point for you.
You then go on to criticise the large amounts of players City have brought in over the last few years saying that while United have always invested top money, they have spread it out over 25 years. I don't like to point out the history of your own club, but have you forgotten the spending spree that Ferguson went on from '86 to '90? Leighton, Donaghy, Anderson, Hughes, McClair, Wallace, Ince, Bruce, Pallister, Webb, Phelan, Davenport and Sealey were all bought in before United won their first trophy under Slur Alex, By my reckoning, that's more than a full team.
Suggesting City try to win by "plundering clubs for their best players" is laughable. Do you recall the way United have bullied Everton, Aston Villa, Leeds United, PSV Eindhoven and especially Tottenham over the years? Roberto Mancini has certainly never gone to the length of kidnapping another club's player from the airport in the way that Ferguson did with Berbatov.
The problem you seem to have, rather like most supporters of that hypocritical, corrupt club you all follow, is that you are scared witless by the threat posed by the club you love to mock. If it's not an obsession, then surely you'd be able to think of more subjects for your column than City bashing. You never know, broaden your horizon and you may get a chance to write for a proper newspaper.
One day you may shock us all and report on some of the goings on at Old Trafford. Maybe a piece on Eric Cantona's fees for his appearance in the Munich memorial match, a list of the 99 questions that McManus and Magnier were planning to uncover Ferguson's secrets with or maybe even give us your views on the Glazer families continued attempt to make loyal reds pay higher and higher ticket prices to pay off their debts. Be careful though, I wouldn't want you to write anything that would get you banned from Old Trafford or Carrington by the bully who shall hear no evil.
I await your response eagerly, Kev

As for ManYoo and Ferguson, I have twice been banned from Old Trafford for criticism of the manager while our Manchester man Neil Custis, one of the few in the North who dares stand up to the Ayatollah Hogmonay, is just returning from his own 18 month ban. As for working for a 'proper' newspaper, I would be interested to know what newspaper u read and whether their sports writers are as defiant of Ferguson and United as we on The Sun are? Yrs Steve H

If you aren't a rag, then you certainly sing from the same hymn sheet as the stretford public. I'd like to know why there is a clear agenda against City in the media. Is it because a number of you have had to print apologies after being warned about printing blatant lies by the Eastlands hierachy?
As for which paper I read, after years of flirting from one set of liars to the next, I have finally settled on The Sabotage Times (online). No sensationalist stories on there for the purpose of shifting a few copies, just honest opinions and reporting. I'd also recommend The Daisy Cutter - the paper that honestly lies (also online). Have a look through the archives on the Cutter and you'll see a few pieces by yours truly. You never know, you might learn a thing or two about football writing. If you want to make amends for the vicious attacks on City that you've been compelled to print over the last few weeks, you could give The Daisy Cutter a mention in the next column.
Are you on the Sunday Supplement this Sunday? I'll be watching and waiting to hear you say something nice about the Citizens but won't hold my breath.
thanks for replying, Kev
