Steve Wright DJ RIP

At the time, I enjoyed listening to him but wonder if he really was genuinely ‘innovative’, or simply fortunate enough to have an American wife and access to American culture at a time when it didn’t cross the Atlantic as quickly as today. That said, for nearly half a century he proved himself an outstanding radio communicator, and whenever I read the Daily Mail letters page, I only ever hear the voice of Mr Angry.

RIP, used to enjoy his show back in the day.

i'm trying to be a responsible person, investing in my pension and saving for retirement and then something like this happens and it makes you wonder if you should just live for today.
You literally beat me by seconds by posting that, I was thinking the same. Not quite as bad as someone I knew who retired on the Friday and was found dead on the Sunday.

Anyway RIP Steve Wright. He was a good radio DJ although I rarely heard his shows as I was usually at school or working, but enjoyed them when I did.

Wasn't someone who worked in Bury was it?

Grew up with Steve your whole lives if you’re a similar age to me.. he might have been a little Cheesey but you have to take your hat off to his drive and determination.. RIP Wrighty
My feelings exactly. Although I always thought he came across as a bit of a knob, his Radio 1 show, back in the 80s, could be genuinely funny sometimes.

Really sad news, I seemed to have spent most of my adult working life (Building sites & in the workshop at home) with steve on the radio in the afternoon, he seemed like a sound bloke & could be really funny at times,
To be honest I think his show was getting a bit tired & past its best in the last few years but was still miles better than his replacement,
Weird thing is I can clearly remember shouting at the radio when him & his group of mates were having a go at City fans for invading the pitch when Spurs beat us in the FA cup at Maine Road all those years ago!
Will be sadly missed R.I.P.
