Never understood this 'relegation is for the best' attitude. They'll lose loads of money, crowds will drop, the best players will leave, media coverage will fall and that division has quite a few 'big' clubs in that are all struggling and fighting for promotion. I fail to see the benefit of a situation that could ultimately be the end of the club.

They're wage bill will come down which means they won't be losing money on a shite side that has no hope of going anywhere. All it will take is a good start and they will get great crowds and a team that is not costing them the life of the club which means they will be able to manage it better from the start. Of course they could go the opposite way but you only have to look at Shrewsbury and Carlisle to see than taking step back is needed. What would County have done if they had stayed up? Aimed to finish 22nd until they got major investment? That's not going to bring the crowds in, if County are top six material next season they will be getting 7k, 8k.
County don't own their ground, so their revenue streams are fucked.
Unlike a lot of Blues I take no pleasure from seeing their demise. I have friends and family who are County fans so I hope they come back soon, but their future looks bleak. Shame.

i think a lot of people's negative attitude towards them is down to the bitterness from them. i was at the game where they beat us 2-1 at edgeley park just before we won the championship. a few of us were in a boozer before the match and the whole pub was staring at us. fair enough, they're going to revel in beating us but the tension before the game that night was OTT and a lot of blues will remember shit like that.

City fans would often dip their hand in their pocket to help the club when it needed financial help. A lot of us expected the County fans to boast about being in a higher division than us when we slipped into Division Two, but the lengths and extremes they took it too that season left a sour taste for many a Blue.
It wasn't banter it was unjustified vitriol. I was shocked at how much hatred they actually had for us. From that day i don't think many Blues held County in the same light so when they needed help again no-one bothered to help.
