Really? I saw a stat that we’ve lost more games since mid Jan than they have ... never as easy as just turning up to win ... that’s exactly the kind of attitude to be avoided especially against teams fighting for survival at this stage.

Hard to define middle, but in 2018, our comparative records read:

Stoke City: Played 9, Won 1, Drawn 4, Lost 4
Manchester City: Played 16, Won 12, Drawn 1, Lost 3

Notably, of the 8 league games in that 9, Stoke only played one top six side.

No room for complacency, however.

Some psychologists might consider such behaviour as evidence of HAFFing: Hedging Against Fear of Failing. They might obtain a greater emotional payoff than others if we then go out and beat Stoke by more than 3 goals.

Then again, they might just be weighed down by years of disappointment watching City implode. :-)

The bookies will give you 200/1 on Stoke winning by 3. So they don't think it's particularly likely ;-)
