Ive just been reading up on some of the rules of the game & here's one that suprised me.
What happens if a team kick's the ball into their own goal from a direct free kick?
Don't look it up.

Not sure but the goal certainly wouldn't stand. Substitute sent off as well, as well as displaying the very reason why he was a substitute only.

Dropped ball on the 6 yard line? (Assuming the sub was closer to the goal line than that)

I would guess the goal would still stand???

And if he came on and scored it would be disallowed - not too sure. Seems more likely if he came on and the ball still went in that it would remain a goal.

One for refs amongst us:

What happens when you're reffing a match in which an established team is drawing 3-3 with its local rivals, but they desperately need a win to maintain both their title challenge and perceived superiority over said up and coming rivals and you've added four minutes of injury time?

Keep playing until this so called 'established team' score of course. What else could there be?

A combination of correct answers.

If he makes any contact with the ball or in his attempt to clear the ball interferes with play (almost certain) then the goal is disallowed and play restarted with a drop ball, no nearer the goal than the 6 yard Goal Area.

If he is nowhere near the ball and his intervention can be considered of no consequence, then the goal can stand.

The substitute is cautioned with a yellow card for entering the field of play without the referee permission.

You can clearly see that with 7 subs and the leniency of the punishment compared to the benefits of saving a goal, why substitute should not be allowed to warm up near the goals.

Of course if you are a fan in the South or North Stand, and the ball is trickling into City's goal, feel free to run on and kick it away. Your only punishment will be a 3 year stadium ban, however offset that with saving a goal, becoming a modern day legend and having free beer for life at Mary's!
