To be fair Stuart has come on to explain some of his comments...

agreed. I think he's being badly treated on here, his rag loving paper is hardly his fault. I will always have a pop (sometimes in jest) at anyone having a go at city but lets no make this personal.

now oakie is a diiferent animal and needs slating at all times.

love you oakie xx

No you can`t have me on the shag pile !!!!

Flippancy Warning, Flippancy warning:

Today's MEN has an article about Mr Pellegrini and Moyes attending a Charity dinner for Mark Halsey and the first line states:

"Manchester United manager David Moyes and Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini turned out to attend a VIP dinner in aid The Christie, hosted by ex-referee Mark Halsey."

As they are both Managers (as far as I am aware) why are they not both classified as such? Or both classified as boss!! Surely another example of bias as to my mind manager sounds more classy/important than boss? :-)

Ah they're bigging up Aguero and saying no-one has a hope of signing him in another article though so it evens out today.

Of course, I hadn't looked at it that way. Well spotted TPP

Is Pellegrini's job title actually "manager". That's a very English job description, in Europe they tend to like the term "head coach" or something like that. Given our hierachy comes from a European background, from the coaching staff, through Pellegrini and up to Soriano etc it wouldn't surprise me if Pellegrini wasn't technically our manager.

no offence but it's a lot better than any of the stuff you lot write.

No offence? How about you go into a restaurant and ask the chef, who has trained and been in the profession for years, to let someone off the street cook the food because it's a lot better than the muck he serves up? I think he might take offence
Yeh well he's got a thick enough skin and the balls to come on here and see the stuff that's already been written in this thread so I doubt it and if you'd read any of Ric's stuff or the View from a blue blogs, you'd realise how far from the mark that 'someone off the street' analogy is (to name but two) :)

Ok then you walk in and ask a chef from the restaurant next door to cook the food instead. Point still stands.
But as you say journalists do have thick skin and I'm sure stuart can fight his own battles.
It is interesting though the perception people have of journalists. They are seen as scummy and fair game to be shot at - possibly due to the behaviour of a few.
I'm a journalist myself and the way a lot of people speak to you is incredible. They talk to you in a way they would never dream of speaking to someone else. The abuse you get - with absolutely no justification - is mind blowing at times. You wouldn't walk into a shop and call someone a f*cking c*nt and expect to get away with it. But for some reason you do if it's a journalist. But you get used to it in the end and it's water off a duck's back.
99% of journalists are decent people carrying out a vital role in our society.
Anyway off my soapbox!

Good to know you don't count the Sun as having any journalists :)

Pmsl.
Anyway sorry if I caused any offence Wireblue, my point was more that more fan involvement in the paper would make a lot of people who are unhappy now feel that bit happier and no-one could accuse our bloggers of being biased against the club.
I think the abuse is more too do with being a public avatar of an organisation, look at the police and politicians.

No it's fine mate I think it's an interesting debate.
The poster above mentions the sun - fair enough what they did was despicable - but you can't use that as a barometer for an entire profession.
Also you mention police and politicians - they are paid for by taxpayers - people like stuart work for a business. I think that's at the heart of this really. People feel they have some kind of ownership over newspapers and have a say on how they should be run - certainly local newspapers - when in fact they don't.
If the MEN decided to print zero city stuff and have a special pull out on united every day they could do - obviously they wouldn't but you see my point.
I can only go from my own experience of working on a newspaper in a two-club town and we get shit from both sides about being biased.
Certainly guest bloggers is a great idea but what I think would also be a great idea is for someone from bluemoon to spend a few days at the MEN with stuart to see just how difficult the job is, how skilled the journalists working there are and also how much they care about the newspaper.
Because to be fair I don't think people have any idea of what goes on at a newspaper.
