Sturridge - Chelsea

Sahar and Sinclair are not as good as Sturridge is, Sinclair is on loan now, and might not be quite as good as we'd hope, however, we are sticking by him, and he is still dedicated at making it at Chelsea.

Sahar, was in and around the 1st team 2 years ago, sometimes preferred to Shevy, he needed a run of games so he's been going on loan trying to shine, he's in the Dutch league now, and although he's not prolific, Ajax are now interested, and he scored a corker.

Stoch and Mancienne are part of our first team squad now.

Sturridge's position will be different, we have 2 different transfer policies.
We have a transfer team who deal with talent that are 17 and under, who come in to our Youth and reserves. Those 18 and over are bought for the first team squad, so if we do buy Sturridge, then it'd mean that he'll probably secure a bench striking position, however, with the African Nations Cup, meaning Drogba and Kalou gone, he'll have time to make all the impact he wants to make.

Right so a player younger than some of your current youth players who has been injured for the best part of two years and has yet to complete 90 minutes of a competitive match, hasnt had a loan spell is going to walk straight into a league and champions league contending team??

I really dont think so and to be honest I think if he goes anywhere it will be Villa or he'll stay with us!

You are clearly knowledgable about your club set up and its good to read your views. Obviously Chelsea rate this lad and its easy to see why. He is an exciting player and if he had stayed fit he would have played more games especially in the last few months.

The move to Chelsea is not as attractive as it might have been a couple of seasons ago and that is mainly due to how much City have progressed. He will be better served staying here in surroundings he is used to, playing with top quality players and most importantly, like he said in a recent interview "his best mates". His Uncle Dean was also on Sky not long ago saying he will not leave City.

Next year he will push on and if he progresses again he will start to score regularly and imo could make the WC squad. I personally cant see City attracting a really big name striker this summer so i think our forward line next season will consist of Bojinov, Bellemy, Santa Cruz and hopefully Sturridge plus a number of players can play off the front man like Elano, Robinho, Ireland.

So, imo, City are still in the box seat for securing him on a long term deal and i feel the influence of Onuoha, Richards, Ireland, Johnson, Weiss, SWP, Etuhu, Mee and mostly Mark Hughes will see the lad sign a new deal at City very soon.

But if he goes it will definitely be for the money and dont kid yourself it is because you are a bigger club.

You still havent answered the question about your current or incumbemt management selection and how without a stable manager you can be aware of what your transfer policy or who you want to bring in is.

If it is hiddink, do you think with his limited knowledge of english football and english players he is going to want to bring in an untried striker to be part of his first team squad or would he be more likely to bring in someone he has worked with in the past and has some knowledge about

If hiddink does not stay, will the new manager want to sign a player on comparatively high wages who he has little knowledge about and prob has not seen play for any extended period of time. Once again its that word potential and im sorry but chelsea is not a cash cow for potential players anymore, you cannot afford to be.

If he goes to villa im not sure how he fits into that side either, there whole style of play is kick up knock on and let pace run in behind, without changing their style of play he would be no more than a bench player as i dont think he offers anything more in their system than agbonlahor does, so essentially he would be plan b again and would not have progressed at all!

Are you absolutely sure? If a guy's contract expires, doesn't he become a free agent?

We get compensation as he is under the age of 24. I think Chelsea had to pay about £5mil for Mikel even though his contract was up.
Chelsea paid the rags 12m for him, didn't they? I don't think Mikel had even travelled to Manchester when they sold him on to the rent boys. Best bit of business baconface has ever done.

Actually, we were remunerated for the Mikel fee, because his contract with the Norwgian club was fraudulent, we did pay some of the fee, as otherwise it would have crippled Lyn (the team) and it was Morgan Andersen's fault, he is now currently incarcarated.
The money we paid for Mikel was relatively low.

Also, regarding the management situation, we have a history of buying 1st team players before a change of manager, and actually they've all been positive signings.

Kenyon over saw the purchase of Robben and Cech, United were pursuing both, and when he came to Chelsea he moved on both of them in January, eventhough, he'd admitted that he knew Ranieri was not the man to carry on at the helm of Chelsea Football Club, (they also got Ranieri to sign off on the transfers). We secured them and they joined us in the summer.

..and just recently we signed Bosingwa, and although at first it was thought that Scolari had prompted Chelsea to get Bosingwa, he maintains even now, that he only signed Deco.

Sturridge has recently spoken

Manchester City striker Danny Sturridge is keen to duck questions over interest from Chelsea.

“I’m just trying to get my head down – I’ve just got back from injury – and I’m trying to nail down a first-team place at Manchester City,” Sturridge told Setanta Sports News.

“I’m not trying to worry about my contract or anything else except football, because all that kind of stuff can put you off your game.

“I don’t want other things on my mind when I’m playing football because it doesn’t bode well for you on the pitch.

“I just want to focus on my football, get my head down and try and score as many goals as I can before the end of the season.”

It's not promising on City's behalf, he seems non-commital, but then so do most players in the middle of contract negotiations. I have read comments about him wanting to make it at City, so maybe this talk of Chelsea is just leverage to work in a better deal at City.

Who knows what is being promised to him by his suitors, Villa is definitely an option, I know they are keen, and they have young English players starting for them, and added to that he is a brum.

On my part, I hope he comes to Chelsea.

Just out of interest why are you so hopeful he comes to chelsea is it because alot of people on here dont want to lose him or because he is being promoted on here as the great english striking hope or because you actual have knowledge of the player and his performances because if you do you prob have alot more than most city fans who have been waiting to see this guy burst forth into the team without any actual sustained performances to back up the kudos that he has been given!

His impressive performances in the youth cup, and the ability he had shown in his 1st team appearances for Man City.

Most importantly, the 6 + 5 quota, there aren't many English attacking players that'd be able to cut the mustard, United usually monopolise this market, I don't want us to end up with English players that have a negative effect on our quality.

So you want him based on performances in our first team i can think of 2 that were worth of being classed as good performances and a few which were mediocre.

Also anyone on here will tell u good performances in the youth cup do not always translate to being a good first teamer, also he was a year older and further along than most of the players in that team!

He was good in a game where he came on and set up Robinho with that ridiculous pass, and he scored a goal to cap it off, the Schalke game, then in highlights I've seen of his goals from MOTD, a lot of the goals he scores shows his shooting technique.

Havent read the whole thread, but don't let anyone on here let them convince you he's good, he's crap, you don't want him, leave him alone, please.

Nah, he's got great talent, a few question marks over his attitude. A large number of people on here expect young players to perform to their potential right from the very start of their careers, consistantly. Look at the grief people like Richards, Caciedo, Ireland, Onuoha, Hart etc get when they go through a patch where they under perform. We're lucky to have a young player with such great talent and i really hope we hold onto him and he fulfils his potential, because he has the talent to be one of the best in the league.

I'll be pissed off if we don't keep him however only time will tell.
We still must be in the boxseat to sign him up again but we have looked after him for years and he will get his oppurtunity in time. I can't understand why he would goto Chelsea where he will find himself behind the other strikers there.
Hopefully he isnt greedy as the tabloids suggest and he will sign soon, this guy is pure class.
