Has anyone heard anything on Sturridge's new deal ? What is the hold up ? The last worrying news i heard was that Liverpool were sniffing round. This came from GMR and they normally get a whiff of what is happening before most. Hope it is duff info and that we offer him an acceptable contract.

Rumour has it that Fat Sam wants him as part of the RSC deal. No way should that happen. Sturridge is potentially the better player in the long term.

Very true! but I don't understand it why would big sam be interested in a player that is a free agent in the summer?

I heard that the deal has been agree'd but with every passing day without an announcement I think it's bad info.

If he gets to the summer and he is a free agent there is no way he will sign for Blackburn so this is there only chance of getting him. The top four would all take him and Aston Villa definitely want him, (O'Neill knows a player!). He has been talked about for years in the England set up and if he can stay injury free he will be as good as Fowler was in his early years IMO. Why oh why was his contract not sorted when Sven took over because we were puutin him in the squad then even as a 17 year old. If he doesnt sign for us he will definitely wait until the summer before going anywhere. I just dont want any of the following younger players to go...Hart, Richards, Johnson, Onuoha, Ireland, Sturridge, Weiss all should have a future at the club. I remember a few years go thinking, like most blues, if only we had loads of money to surround this crop with top players we could really achieve something, i expected we would go like WHU and they would all be dotted about the top 4 teams...the takeover has blown my mind but my opinion is still the same

My point is that, as you say Blackburn have no chance of signing him so even if he does move to them it would only be until May, so if your big sam whats the point?
