I hope you're getting double time pay for going in today!
Too many of these cheeky f*ckers build Sunday working into your contract these days , as part of your 'normal' working week ....... bang out of order if you ask me ....... but then i suppose footballers have to toe the Sunday line too nowadays.
All shop workers /restaurant workers and their like should be offered double their hourly rate today , PLUS time off durin' the week for their trouble .
Sunday is the sabbath day , a day of rest ...... or it should be ...... unless you CHOOSE to go in yourself!

nothing lol. na im a team leader for the transport team in a hospital. theres 2 shifts a 7-3 and a 1-9 and you have to work 2 weekends outta 3. my only saving grace is this forum to waste away my day, that and the double time lol.

I frequently work weekends, this is one of the reasons that I can't buy a season ticket :-( Unfortunately, I have no say in the matter & don't get paid any extra either.

I agree with you.
We negotiated sunday work being voluntary with a 20 quid supplement and minimum pay of 9:15.
People get taken the piss out of as Sunday is probably the only day some workers get to spend time with their families and i believe should be compensated for sacrificing their time. After all, if it's like my place of work you never see any gaffers on a Sunday.

Absolutely spot on Mat ...... but sadly it seems that very few people have any say in it whatsoever these days .
Like you point out you hardly see any bosses around on a Sunday ...... that's somethin' that hasn't escaped my notice either ....... it would suggest that they don't want to come in Sundays as they value their time for other things , maybe time with their families or going on leisure activities , or even religious pastimes .... yet they clearly expect workers too turn up on Sundays on a fraction of their bosses pay.

I worked from 12-6pm today and some guy who thinks we have'nt got life decides he want's to shop at 6:10pm when we want to go home ! The Trafford Centre is the Devil ggrrrrr !!
