Sunderland Vs City Post Match Thread

Perhaps YOU need to remind yourself who our owners are and why they've just spent £200 million quid building that big Academy complex next to the stadium?

I don't need reminding who our owners are and why £200 million was invested in the youth academy, I'm not naive.

Many go on loan to other clubs and hardly progress, some even go backwards, denayer progressed in a shite league but doesn't look anywhere near playing in our back four just yet. It's sentimental to wish for youth to break through but I also buzz off a new signing that develops into world class just as much.

So what you're saying is that sending players out to shite leagues makes them stagnate or "go backwards" (though I cannot think of a single person this has happened to within my memory), so what we should do is not play them ourselves and.....what?

You don't want us to play them and you don't want other teams to play them.

Denayer can not only slot straight into our back four right now but if he came through somebody else's youth system the imbeciles on here would think we should pay £30m for him.

Nobody gives a shit about the League Cup and in fact it's a massive detriment that heavily impacts on the rest come January when you're playing two leg semis at Wembley, presumably still in the FA Cup and the league games.

That's bollocks. You mean you and some others don't. So what, plenty of us do and we can speak for ourselves thanks.

I was 7 when we won it in '76 and it's the last trophy I remember before a very long period of decline. Something which I'll remember for a long time.

Wow Damo
You clearly feel strongly about this.
I thought the Manager did the right thing last night - perhaps he could have introduced youth a little earlier but it was important to get back on track.
To be completely honest I've not seen a consistent and sustained high level in the EDS yet to merit the confidence being shown by many about the youth players, but that's debatable and I suppose a chicken and egg argument.

Are you 7 now? Is it still 1976?

Or are we playing in Germany next week to attempt to win the European Cup?

Sorry mate maybe my point wasn't clear, I mean despite getting game time elsewhere many don't develop as hoped. I've watched denayer for example play approx 15 times and I reckon he's ok, nowhere near good enough just yet, but maybe after this current loan he may return ready but I doubt it.
If we progress further on the pitch in chumps league then he will slip even further down the pecking order, I'm not trying to tell you your wrong or I don't value your opinion, I'm just giving mine. I've had a season ticket 37 years and can honestly say the real quality is bought and not brought through.

You're sounding exactly like the shitheads across the way. Won't be long before you stop watching at half time if we're already winning eh?

How often do you watch the EDS?

I don't know a single person who consistently watches them who doesn't think that a few of them would walk straight into our squad. It's incomprehensible that Maffeo is still waiting for his debut for example, when we have a single senior right back fit. We killed Zabaleta's form by playing him every game despite Sagna being a capable deputy. Now with Zab out we're playing Sagna every single game aswell.
