Be good to hear Sven at the WC. I miss his "will errrrrr...." before every answer. Bobby's "eets important..." doesn't do it for me

Good luck to Sven!

I strongly suspect Ivory coast will make a really good WC, with the players they have, and now under Sven's management.

I still can't stop wondering where we (MC) would be today had Sven been allowed to stay on. :(

this is where nikky appears to point out that roberto was sven's protege, roberto is now managing kolo toure, a very influential figure in the ivorian national team who came out strongly in support of roberto yesterday, and also talked about the possibility of his much coveted brother joining city in the summer.

Chiles was laughing his head off on MOTD2 about this. I don't think its a good move, he was poor at Mexico, and England always flopped under him. He's a club manager, not a national one.

This will certainly be interesting. Lagerbäck has been given the Nigeria job too, which is all good really since it brings a new dimension to the world cup (and we needed it, it's the first time we've missed a tournament since '98, hardly even remember that far back).

Not sure if either Lagerbäck or SGE will stay after the world cup, think it's just a temporary thing. Weird that the two big African sides are looking at Sweden though, that's defo never happened before.

Not sure I'd call him a flop with England either.

His negative tactics cost England in 3 major tournaments; in 2002 after a great start against Brazil, England just didn't bother playing after that, they just sat back and got deeper and deeper, it was like watching a 3rd division team going to Old Trafford. The same happened against Portugal at 2004, great early start, were hammering them throughout the first half, second half, sit back, do nothing, Portugal equalise. In the 2006 WC apart from a poor team selection, 4 strikers, 2 unfit, and 1 who was 17 years old, and never played a Premier League game, England just never got going, they were awful to watch. For Mexico he was poor, and they came close to missing out. I think Ivory Coast have made a clanger here.

Hope he does well, a disgrace what happened at Notts County
