Ha ha! Top find that, I remember the match well - jeez the Vetch was a right dump. I think both clubs had been relegated the previous season but they'd stuffed us 4-1 in the corresponding match, one of my real low points watching City.
That was some of the ''Guv's'' being put in the city end, they ran on the pitch when city scored, they were being escorted around the pitch, it had kicked off in the home end where they occupied the bottom corner, in them days you did not need a ticket to matches, you paid at the turnstile alot had been nicked and thrown out! proper mad times in the 80's
i was at that match - went down on a 'yelloways luxury coach' (old song - havin a blow, on the A60, on a yelloways luxury coach) from middleton.
remember getting to swansea town centre about 12:00 and it kicking off all over their shopping centre. in those days most of the away following was 'lads', you had to look out for each other, especially in towns like swansea.
I was at that game , i went down on the special train ....... it was like going to the ends of the earth it was , Swansea certainly isn't just around the corner!
I loved going to the Vetch Field .... such a homely little stadium ... even if the natives were a bit on the excitable side!
