Swansea V City post match thread

its that time of the year when teams will use a heavy pitch to slow the game down and pep and city will have to get use to playing away in the premier league when teams will use anything to get at us. water the pitch (water log). long grass. uneven hard pitch. sand just about everything they can get away with to stop us free flowing football

I did have a laugh when, after being postponed due to torrential rain, City were watering the pitch at HT in the Monchengladbach game!

Why are people on this forum still finding supposed faults with our team?
We should have scored more, Bravo is incompetent, Silva shouldn't have started etc etc.
Manchester City are top of the league.
P6 W6. (P10 W10.) Pep is our manager. There are long periods in games where we play some wonderful football.
Where, once upon a time, when the opposition drew level, we would most likely fall apart and drop points, that isn't the case now.
FFS!
Get real, get behind the team and appreciate what we have and where we are going.
If they didn't I'd think I'd logged on to the wrong forum ;-)

they over watered the pitch making it heavy and slow for the players of both teams but its a leveller and stops the speed of pass and sticks under your feet you just need to get it out with another touch and that's the killer in the style we move it around but like i said its for both teams and swansea are a good football playing team and played very well but lack that bit of magic we have

That's a very good point. I expect more if it - over watering that is.

You know... maybe the manager is the most important person in a football squad.

Amazing how much better we are this year than last; and though I liked Mancini for the most part, we're miles ahead under Pep (though Pep has much, much more upper management support than Mancini did).

Another example - Klopp. Liverpool is playing fantastic football now that Klopp has begun to restructure the team to his liking. I think it'll be us first in the league, closely followed by Pool.

yep its all in the rules and the clubs will know we are better so why not use the pitch to even up the game. its that 2nd touch when the ball gets under your feet and the ball just does not roll at the speed you like. i did see it alot yesterday the ball was holding and not rolling in front of the player its just them little things that levels out the quality

at home the etihad its like a carpet and water does drain very quick so its always a good pitch prepared to suit our style of play and teams will need 14 players at times we are that good at moving the ball its scary you have to be a fit squad to beat city at the etihad or city to have a off day but again the amount of chances this city team makes you should take 2 of them so i don't see many off days

Interesting match report in the Sunday Times which seeks to nuance yesterday's penalty incident as being fortunate for us in that " De Bruyne chasing a loose ball across goal was checked by van dear Hoorn and fell a touch theatrically to the floor".
As I saw it on MOTD their defender raises his arm, makes a significant contact on Kev's face which breaks his run causing him to fall. No immediate goal threat but nevertheless a clear penalty.
Had it been the other way round no doubt the incident would now be on a continuous loop on TV questioning whether the FA would be taking retrospective disciplinary action against our defender.

Just watched it back and i love the way pep is still going mental near the end of the game, what a ride we are on

Better than the train journey back last night from Swansea,2 carriages to take us all back to Manchester stopping at every one horse welsh shithole on the way.Crammed in like a tube train it was ace

I just love watching City now.

Every player on the pitch is excellent with the ball at his feet.

Hell, our centerbacks take it up the pitch and attack.

And our keeper! Our keeper is far better than most players passing the ball.

So fun to watch City this year!

I love his passion Karen, shows he cares and is committed to the cause. It's brilliant

There was one moment early in the second half when the ball rolled into their penalty area and kicked up standing water - I commented on it at the time, that they must have absolutely soaked it to try and slow us down. I bet they only watered that end that heavily at half time.

Could argue it's cheating, but there's nothing in the rules about it (I don't think?)

Nope they watered both ends the same unless more water come's out of the sprinklers at that end but it looked pretty much alike to be honest.
