Switzerland
Switzerland have played in every World Cup since 2006, which is pretty impressive for a country of their size going through European qualifying and considering they made just 1 World Cup between 1970 and 2002. Granit Xhaka is in great form this season and will captain the side and Akanji is playing well for City. Their starting XI would challenge most teams at this tournament, Brazil are in the same group and I don’t think they’ll find it easy against Switzerland.
Over the last 2 years Switzerland have been competitive, they were knocked out in the Quarter-finals of the Euro’s by Spain on penalties after they themselves knocked France out on penalties. They started this calendar year in not the best form but they have beaten Spain in the Nations League within the last 2 months.
Cameroon
Cameroon are favourites to win the World Cup according to… *checks notes*…Samuel Eto’o, he had them to beat Morocco in the Final. More unbiased people are predicting them to finish bottom of the group. Rigobert Song was made the manager of Cameroon just a month before he led them past much fancied Algeria in the playoffs. They’re most inform player at the moment is Anguissa of Napoli, he looks a different player from his time at Fulham.
They finished 3rd at AFCON earlier in the year but like I said they have sacked their old manager and brought in Song, which did pay-off as he’s led them to Qatar. They haven’t really played a top team in preparation for this tournament, so it’s hard to judge how good they are. Despite being predicted to finish bottom, I don’t think they’ll roll over for anyone.
