I've recently aquired a new pc and want to set up my old one for my grandad. Although it's pants for me it would be perfect for what he needs.

However it does have a dodgy copy of windows xp on there and needs a complete format and restore. How do I go about this without a windows xp disc? Is there a way?

Many thanks.

Just look on line mate you can legit copies Windows fairly cheap which you can just download and you geta product code, there are some dodgy ones without a product code (some free) problem is they ask you for a product code after 30 days without one you have to download another again, which I imagine will be a pay in the arse for your grandad.

I got Windows 7 for £120.00 and downloaded it without a disc

He already has windows xp on his old system. Is there anyway I can use his product key?

No mate the product key is unique try this link mate
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=windows+xp&tag=googhydr-21&index=software&hvadid=5654467376&ref=pd_sl_1gzyc1q3zt_e" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keyw ... zyc1q3zt_e</a>

You can download an iffy copy, install it then try to update, ms will probably say it's iffy then use your product key on the case.
