Correct.there are many on here who make disparaging remarks about a loyal blue.
I doubt very much any of them would say anything to her face.
I have no doubt whatsoever she would batter them.
Top Blue.,who goes everywhere with City.
I`ve often seen her name mentioned but what sort of age is she ?
I was on a Finglands coach once travelling up to Sunderland (the old Roker Park) for a mid week game way back in the late 60`s early 70`s and this gobby youth on the coach was giving it plenty, but the soft arse was brandishing a knife towards another couple of City fans.
Within minutes this largish lady started on him and eventually she got him down on the seat and promptly sat on him for more than an hour and also managed to disarm the knife from him.
The poor twat could hardly breathe but wouldn`t give in to this big lady. Eventually he did and a big roar and applause from the rest of the coach came up.
I had no idea who this woman was but it transpired that it was non other than Big Helen "The Bell" Turner, who I had never seen but constantly heard behind the goals.
On a better note the coach driver and Helen basically told him to fuck off and make his own way home after the game.He certainly didn`t come back with us and we won 0-4 so a very enjoyable and entertaining day.

Brilliant account.

I've heard bits about Helen (RIP) putting her body on the line to protect young blues...Forest away in the mid 70s( Forest,as you prob know Oakie, was a rough place and a half in those days...)After the game forest boot boys met City coming out the ground,Helen called all the kids towards her and started swinging her famous bell at forest..quite a hefty weapon if you think about it...

I know lots of other blues didn't partc enjoy travelling under her rule on supporters club bus 'A' in later years, she had to have the front seat etc etc.

A true Blue, who raised a lot of money for Manchester hospitals in her later years, and also for the club with the " Half time Draw Tickets!!" which she used to aggressively sell in the old Maine rd supporters club house.

I got on well with her,I used to do my own bit for the club selling the scratch cards to workmates during the week in the late 80s and would often bump into her in the tiny commercial office which was situated between the North and Main stand back in the day....at a time when our club was skint.

The last time I saw Helen alive was the isle of Man pre -season tour ,by now in poor health and in a wheel chair...she spotted me and demanded I give her a kiss..I didn't even think of refusing!

I listened at 10 this morning for over an hour with Murphy,Jorden and the rag Matterface also 4 this afternoon for a couple of hours forgot the names, and tonight from 10 with Cundy and Goldstein just switched off, believe it or not but not one mention of our game at Chelsea on those three spots, unbelievable.
One mention, “City edged past Chelsea on Saturday”. Matterface is a twat.

Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa love it mate and yes she was a larger than life character who raised lots of money for Charity and City.

To be honest, this would sound about right, an old mate of mine grew up around Upton Park/Boleyn, but decided to become a rag, he left and went to Stockport (I know, must be the only one) and always said, when he goes back to visit his family (Hammers fans btw) he has to go out with them to their local pubs otherwise it would be pretty unsafe for him, and even going out with the family, he still gets grief, just doesn't end up in violence, seems they have a very real dislike of cockney rags, especially those that should have been loyal West Ham fans, (fair enough in my book).
West Ham have always hated United because of the cockney reds. In the seventies there was always a lot of trouble at Upton Park when they played united.

I remember that game we were all singing the Kinks song after the game
Thank you for the days.

Thank you for the goals,
Those 4 great goals at Roker Park you gave us

Didn't Ray Winstone give Goldstein some justified grief on Soccer AM once, over Goldstein being a rag fan and Goldstein shitting himself.
