Indian group Tata invited to sponsor Man Utd
Manchester United Football Club is courting industrial conglomerate Tata Group, owner of the Jaguar and Land Rover car marques, as a potential shirt sponsor, according to media reports in India.
The club is trying to find a replacement for controversy-wracked American International Group, which is not renewing its £56m deal at the end of the current season.
Indian media reports said the club has sent Tata a sponsorship proposal. News agency Reuters quoted a brand consultant to Tata as saying that the team shirt is one of a number of options being considered.
Manchester United also approached Sahara Group, another Indian company, in January.
Tata’s UK interests also include the Brunner Mond soda ash business in Northwich. Its other automotive interests include the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano and it is also involved in steel, software, tea and hotels.
Those Rags are sniffing around every f***er ATM. How come nobody is rushing to the biggest club in the universe? Comapre that to City who have quietly signed and sealed the new sponserhsip deal no doubt.
BTW. You know somebody, somewhere, is going to make up a name for the Rags form the initials TATA.
