Teams better than Schalke 04

They have had such an easy run. Call me bitter, nostalgic, or whatever, but the Champions League is so much easier to win than it was years ago. The way the group stages are structured, its such a piece of piss for teams like Man United to do well.

This team beat Shalke 2 seasons ago in Europa

Hart, Richards, Kompany, Dunne, Garrido , Wright-Phillips, Hamann, Ireland, Vassell, Mwaruwari , Sturridge.

They also finished bottom of our Group table that season, currently they are 10th in their league and could still go down......

Ya know what ya right Shalke are awsome

Not the point I was making, as they're easily the worst team I've seen in the CL semis; but this thread just made me laugh.

We should be giving them credit for getting to the semi finals of the most prestigious club competition on earth, rather than taking the piss out of them for losing to a better team.

It's shambles really when there are better teams in Europa this season then there has been in Champs League but the competition is less respected because it's not as big as Champs League.

Aye, but that's always the problem you potentially face when qualifying for a tournament occurs long before it actually starts; squads can change a lot in the months inbetween. Schalke finished 2nd in the Bundesliga last season, but this season they've been more erratic than Spurs.

I'd love to have seen Porto thrown into the mix at the quarter finals stage this Champions League; would have mixed it up a bit.

City beat them in the Europa and i think they'd finished fourth the season before and that season!
