My lad has now finished college and is looking for temp work to tide him over till he goes to university in September.
Last thing I want is for him to be lazing around the house every day till September, however I think that is exactly what he wants to do.
Trying to find some work isn’t proving easy.
Does any of you have any suggestions / advice please.
We live in Chorley.

I’m surprised to hear he’s not finding it easy, id imagine there would be loads of possibilities. My lad worked variously at Screwfix and McDonald’s prior to Uni and in summer breaks. The latter are always recruiting as are the big supermarkets.

It’s not for everyone but he could do worse than care work, a good grounding experience for young people. We’ve had a few uni students where I work, including lad’s it’s not just for females

My daughter worked for Burger King and they offered to transfer her to a branch near her Uni when she went. Which she declined as she sensibly decided she should be out with her mates at the weekends rather than flipping burgers and she only works for them in the holidays now.

They are always on the lookout for staff as their turnover is huge. She was one of the longest serving staff in her branch after about 6 months.

Depends what he wants to do. If he's genuinely looking for any job to keep him busy and earn a few quid over the summer then get him to put together a basic CV, print a load of copies off and walk up and down the local High Street dropping it off at every shop, pub, restaurant etc. Bit old school and obviously not suitable if he's looking for a 'proper' job that ties in with what he's going to do at Uni but there should be plenty of general opportunities put there (and any job over the summer will look good on that CV when he does start looking for career jobs).

In-flight food @ Manny Airport. (tax free for students)

Thanks for all the great responses so far.
He has had his CV in at Lidl, Asda , Tesco etc but nothing has come of it.
He has worked in a restaurant the past year but its only a few hours a week so I am trying to get him away from that side as its all dependent on how many tables are reserved.
His CV has been out and about for a while now.

If his cv has been out for a while with no responses I'd check the contact details are correct on there. I am well aware that sounds patronising to the point of almost being rude but having previously worked in the recruitment industry for many years you'd be amazed by how many cv's I saw with incorrect, or even totally missing, contact info!
