Yes that was poor but Fernandez regained her composure and said good words about New York and 9/11
She did.. if still doesn’t detract from the fact that not ten minutes earlier she was whinging and accusing Emma of feigning injury because she was about to have her serve broken. It was obvious to everybody (even the referee took way too long to announce the timeout) that the game had to be stopped for the medic to come on..

Fernandez has said in the post-match interviews that she didn't know the rule on a bleeding cut bringing an immediate halt.
Usually medical timeouts have to wait until there is a changeover.

I can't remember seeing a player getting a cut before.
