Currently in the process of making my missus watch all 4 terminator films. We watch T2 last night, and after her laughing at some of the shoddy special effects in T1, I promised her that at no point would she think that effects looked ropey or dated in T2, despite it being 20 years old.

I was right. And it got me thinking that this is just the best film ever. Storyline is solid (ignoring the time paradox), acting is great, action sequences are some of the best you'll ever see.

This part, with the T-1000 moving through a steel gate, still looks as good as it did on the first watch, epic special effects, dated really well.

It also got me thinking, if it was made today, I'm pretty sure the T-1000 would be entirely CGI, perhaps the T-800 would be, at least in part...and I think this would actually look shit. That Rio Ferdinand lookalike in Star Wars Ep1 is testament to how NOT to do CGI characters.

Anyway, if you haven't seen T2, I suggest you watch it. Just wanted to rant about how fucking awesome it is.

T1 is still the best...

A great film, but doesn't really hold a candle to T2, IMO.

T2 is one of a select few films (Empire Strikes Back, Aliens) where the sequel is better than the original.

In order of preference

1 T2
2 T Salvation
3 T1
3T3 (was really shit)

The music dates it terribly.

and the scene where the Terminator pulls out his eye in the mirror and then puts shades on.

For it's time it was pretty fooking amazing and from 1984 to 1991 is a bloody big gap!
